4th Kazakhstan - U.S. Convention

"Kazakhstan-U.S. Strategic Partnership:

Celebrating the Quarter Century Milestone"

4th Annual Kazakhstan-U.S. Convention

The 4th annual Kazakhstan-U.S. Convention: "Celebrating the Quarter Century Milestone" will be held on December 6th, 2016, Tuesday, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C. It will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the United States, and the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.

The annual Convention brings together members of the U.S. Congress, Administration officials, business leaders and thought leaders that contribute to advancing the strategic and commercial partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States. Previous Conventions have been keynoted by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Carlyle Group CEO David Rubenstein, U.S. Undersecretaries of State Patrick Kennedy, Richard Stengel and other U.S. government leaders. Each year a bipartisan group of 15-20 U.S. Congressmen and Senators attend the Convention, including U.S. Senators John Hoeven and Kelly Ayotte, Congressmen Ed Royce and Dana Rohrabacher. In 2015, the Convention participants enjoyed the keynote address of U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews, who laid out his vision on how to further enhance trade and investment cooperation.

This year's Convention will cover issues such as commercial opportunities, sustainable development, green technologies, infrastructure investments. Kazakhstan, a member of the WTO, is an increasingly growing market for American technologies and equipment, as it pursues ambitious programs such as "100 Concrete Steps", "Nurly Zhol" (Bright Path infrastructure plan) and "Kazakhstan 2050 Strategy".

Participants of the 4th Convention will celebrate achievements such as Kazakhstan's election to the UN Security Council, progress on PNTR, the USA Pavilion at Astana EXPO 2017, and discuss Kazakhstan's recent initiative on privatization and establishing the Astana International Financial Center.
