Almaty Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan

On April 26, Kazakhstan hosted the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan. More than 50 delegations led by the foreign ministers of the participating states and others, gathered in Almaty for the Conference. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev inaugurated the event. It was co-chaired by Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov and Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul.

Railroad Crossing Signals Prosperity for Kazakhstan and Neighboring Turkmenistan

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov celebrated the opening of a railroad crossing between their respective cities of Bolashak and Serkhetyaka on May 11. During the opening ceremony, the Presidents emphasized the importance of the railroad in the Mangistau region, which will now become a hub for trade and transit.

On May 22-24, 2013, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, is hosting the VI Astana Economic Forum and Anti-Crisis Conference.

Astana Wins Right to Host EXPO 2017
